Makati City's Mardi Gras --- Caracol Festival
"Save The Earth"
Month of February all the way until summer signifies festivities in some areas nationwide. Families, adventurers, tourists and packed of journey people make way for the celebrated Panagbenga Festival held annually in the summer capital of the Philippines. Here in Manila, Makati City will hold its annual Caracol festival this February.
When: February 26, 2012 Sunday 4:00 p.m.
Where: Ayala Avenue corner Makati Avenue
What is a Caracol Festival?
ORIGIN early 17th cent.: from French caracole, caracol ‘snail's shell, spiral.’
Dubbed as Makati city's Mardi Gras with an advocacy of "Save The Earth" movement.
Caracol is the local government's drive to raise awareness for the preservation of cultural heritage and conservation of the environment. The city government's commitment to run a global campaign of safeguarding the environment
The highlight of the carnival were the participating group of Makati students clad in environment-theme ensemble as each group competes for the best Caracol showdown. We'll be seeing them in a Caracol dress embellish as trees and fruits, flowers and fauna, marine life, endangered animals, etc. Come join the fun and get involved in preserving our habitation.
